Lisa initially focuses on panic attacks she was experiencing as she anticipated the surgery scheduled for the next day. She then receives powerful healing as Jesus helps her work through underlying traumatic childhood memories. (Session length: 69 minutes).

  • Immanuel approach
  • Basic principles and process
  • Low intensity
Additional DescriptionMore Details

In this 2003 session, Lisa initially focuses on the panic attacks she had been experiencing as she anticipated having surgery (scheduled for the day after the session), and this leads to memories of a childhood surgery carrying the same thoughts and emotions as she had with her panic attacks. Lisa experiences a moderately intense abreaction (intense emotional release during recall and processing of traumatic memory) as she reconnects with the memories, and then Jesus helps her work through the trauma to accomplish healing. In the two-month follow-up interview, Lisa describes how this session resolved her surgery-related panic attacks. The day after this session, as she waited for eight hours in pre-op before her surgery, she was completely calm and sensing the Lord’s presence instead of having panic attacks.

Along the way, Maggie also receives healing for material that had not been fully resolved during the earlier sessions. At the two month follow-up interview Maggie reports fruit from the healing, and also describes poignant experiences of connecting with Jesus when she repeated Immanuel Interventions with these same childhood memories during personal devotional time.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

In this 2007 session Maggie works on fear, uncertainty, and confusion regarding a very tough judgment call she was forced to make regarding ministry with one of her clients. After identifying the target, Dr. Lehman coaches Maggie to focus on a memory of a past positive experience with Jesus, and in the context of this positive memory helps her to refresh her perception of His presence and to establish a living, interactive connection with Him in the present. She then engages directly with Jesus regarding the recent difficult clinical situation and her corresponding fear, uncertainty, and confusion. Jesus beautifully mentors Maggie with respect to the recent situation with her client, and then also brings forward and resolves a traumatic childhood memory with thoughts and emotions that exactly match her recent client situation. Finally, Maggie’s report at the five month follow-up interview indicates lasting fruit regarding the issues addressed in the session (the initial fear, uncertainty, and confusion remain resolved). (LMS #16) “Dawn: Disarming the Lure of Affirmation”

In this 2006 session Jesus helps Dawn identify and resolve a childhood memory that had been the source of an unhealthy attraction she had always felt towards affirmation and recognition. (Session length: 50 minutes).

  • Immanuel approach
  • Basic to Intermediate principles and process
  • Low intensity
Additional DescriptionMore Details

In this 2006 session, Dawn expresses concern that affirmation and recognition have a power for her that feels unhealthy in some way. The Lord leads her to a key memory contributing to the unhealthy energy, and she makes the basic Immanuel intervention invitation and request: “Lord, I make a heart invitation for You to be with me in this place, help me to perceive Your presence.” However, she is not initially able to perceive the Lord’s presence. We use Immanuel intervention trouble-shooting to identify and resolve the blockages, she becomes able to perceive the Lord’s presence, and the unhealthy lure of affirmation/recognition appears to resolve as she engages directly with Jesus in the context of the memory. Finally, Dawn’s observations during the twelve months following the session indicate that this apparent resolution was indeed a deep and lasting change.

(LMS #18) “Rita #3: Jesus Is Better Than Candy”

In this 2008 session, Rita initially focuses on recent events in which she felt excluded. Jesus guides her to childhood memories of painful rejection – memories in which she turned to sweets for comfort. Her upset about recent events and her pattern of turning to sweets for comfort resolve as Jesus heals the underlying memories. (Session length: 73 minutes).

  • Immanuel approach
  • Basic principles and process
  • Low intensity
Additional DescriptionMore Details

In this 2008 session, Rita starts with recalling especially positive experiences with the Lord, deliberately appreciating these, and re-establishing a living, interactive connection with Jesus in the present. Rita then talks about recent events in which she felt excluded; and since she has already re-established an interactive connection with Jesus, Dr. Lehman coaches her to focus on Him and ask Him to guide/move the session forward. She then goes to childhood memories in which she felt painful rejection similar to that experienced in the recent triggering events, and especially to a specific memory where she was turning to candy for comfort. Rita invites the Lord to be with her in these childhood experiences, and she receives healing as she interacts with Jesus in the context of these memories. Finally, during the five months following the session Rita observes a number of deep and lasting changes, including that the initial trigger no longer bothers her, that her relationship with “sweets” has changed, and that her weight is now resting ten pounds lighter than her previous baseline. This faith-building session illustrates the principles, techniques, and process described in our teaching about the Immanuel approach.

(LMS #19) “Maggie #3: Labor & Delivery Trauma”

In this 2009 session, Maggie works on anger towards her husband and the Lord, and the feeling that a certain client situation is unbearable. Her initial anger and sense of unbearable burden resolve as Jesus heals underlying traumatic memories from her first labor and delivery. (Session length: 72 minutes).

  • Immanuel approach
  • Basic principles and process
  • Low intensity
Additional DescriptionMore Details

After Maggie identifies the tentative1 target for this 2009 session (anger towards her husband and the Lord, and the feeling that a certain client situation is more than she can bear), Dr. Lehman coaches her to focus on a memory of a past positive experience with Jesus, and in the context of this positive memory she refreshes her perception of His presence and reestablishes a living, interactive connection with Him in the present. She then engages directly with Jesus regarding the thoughts and emotions associated with her difficult client situation. As she engages directly with Jesus He leads her to unresolved memories from the traumatic labor and delivery of her first child; and, “coincidentally,” these memories contain the same negative thoughts and emotions that felt true in her interactions with her client, her husband, and the Lord. As she continues to engage directly with Jesus He helps her to resolve these traumatic memories, and we then observe that her anger towards her husband and the Lord, and her sense of unbearable burden regarding her client have also resolved. Finally, Maggie’s report at the six month follow-up interview indicates that these positive changes have remained.

(LMS #21) “Steve: Just Be With Jesus”

This 2007 session begins with Jesus initiating a beautiful interaction where Steve receives restoration as he sits in the Lord’s lap. • Basic principles and process
  • Low intensity
Additional DescriptionMore Details

In this 2007 session, Steve starts with recalling/reentering the memory for a previous Immanuel session in which the Lord healed a childhood near-drowning trauma, and then takes time for deliberate appreciation. As he reconnects with the memory and names specific things he appreciates, Steve moves spontaneously from remembering a past connection with the Lord to a new, living, interactive connection with the Lord in the present. Dr. Lehman then coaches Steve to focus on Jesus and ask Him for guidance regarding the session, including where to start and what to work on, and the Lord initiates a beautiful interaction where Steve receives restoration as he sits in the Lord’s lap. The remainder of the session consists of Dr. Lehman repeatedly asking whether we should shift the focus to working on unresolved trauma, with Jesus responding by repeatedly inviting Steve to “just” sit in His lap and receive restoration. During the four years following the session Steve observes a number of lasting changes, including much better balance in his life, and the ability to receive restoration by regularly spending time with the Lord. Finally, during the follow-up interview, Steve is able to reestablish an interactive connection with the Lord, and Jesus initiates healing for the trauma splinter that Dr. Lehman had been trying to get to during the initial session.

(LMS #29) Bob: Safety Net Demonstration

In this 2013 session, we demonstrate two variations of the primary Immanuel approach safety net. Bob also receives healing, and reports lasting fruit at the 5 month followup. (available in early December 2013 via Care Packaging)

Additional DescriptionMore Details

In this 2013 session, Dr. Lehman helps Bob establish living, interactive connections with Jesus in both the context of a positive memory and also in the immediate context of the session (Bob perceives Jesus kneeling in front of him, holding his hand, and praying for him). Bob then focuses on a recent trigger (a painful job-related scenario) until he is intensely upset, and Dr. Lehman demonstrates two variations of the primary Immanuel approach safety net. With the first variation, Bob returns to his connection with Jesus in the context of the positive memory, and with the second variation he returns to his connection with Jesus kneeling in front of him. Both variations work beautifully, and then there is time for brief healing work. (Interestingly, Jesus initiates using the safety net as they are running out of time at the end of the session.) At the 5 month followup Bob observes dramatic, persistent decreases in his negative thoughts and emotions regarding the difficult situation at work.
